Motorola have announced a new mobile phone to add to their collection in the form of the Motorola MING, A1600 or MOTOMING. The word MING can be used to describe something disgusting, ugly and unattractive, so it's a bit of an odd name choice for this stylish flip phone!

The MOTOMING is a touch screen flip phone which runs on the Linux operating system. It boasts a 256K colour, 2.4" QVGA display. It measures 98.9 x 53.5 x 19.6 mm and weighs in at 128g. It comes equip with a 3 megapixel camera with auto focus and A-GPS, panoramic photo stitching, a talking dictionary, microSD expandable memory, Bluetooth, built in GPS receiver, FM radio, MP3/WAV/WMA/AAC+ player, office document viewer, business card scanner and EDGE.

An interesting feature is the transparent flip screen cover, although there seems little point of it being there! I presume its there to protect the touch screen, but I'm sure a screen protector film would do just as good of a job, and I think the handset would look better without it. Saying this it does make the MOTOMING look different making it stand out from the crowd.

The A1600 will be available in a black colour scheme and should support English as well as Chinese, so we should hopefully see a small number of handset hitting the high streets soon.
