Is your old mobile gathering dust?

It has been said by researchers that 1 in 10 people in the UK recycle there old mobile phones.
There is no saying that they are necessarily being thrown in the bin but just lurking around the house in old shoe boxes, draws & cupboards where they are forgotten about.
To bribe the public to hand in there old handsets Networks stores such as Orange, O2, T-mobile etc. were offering money at a minimum of £10 for your old handset. £10 may not seem a lot but its extra money when you are not using it, gathering dust.
Researchers say that Mobile Phone users have owned at least 5 phones on average and whilst only 9% of UK recycle these old phones, it's not all bad news just 3% of dud phones end up in landfills as they are no use. 48% are kept at home, unwanted and never used, but to be fair, a fair bit of re-using goes on too. 19% of devices are passed on to friends or relatives to be reused and 8% are resold. When it comes to recycling the UK does well- with more respondents claiming to recycle their mobile phones than any other country. A survey was carried out and just 3% of 6500 people said they recycle there unwanted devices, and close to half weren't even aware that mobiles could be recycled.

So If you have an old mobile phone, pocket yourself £10 and take it to your nearest phone store.
